Venues typically close between 2am and 4am on weeknights, later on weekends. Most bars cluster inside five-star hotels, which means dress codes run toward smart casual (no flip-flops, no beachwear, no athletic wear), and cocktails hover around 75–150 AED unless you hit a happy hour, which usually runs 5pm to 8pm. September is punishing heat—most of the city's outdoor terraces sit dormant until October. Plan ahead, book taxis through apps rather than hailing them, and watch for ladies' nights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays, when many venues offer free or discounted drinks for women.
Yas Island

The only settings you may need to consider are dining out and nightlife, and some venues won't let you in with flip-flops or shoes considered beach wear or trainers, for both men and women. Arrive early to beat door staff who tighten standards as the night progresses. Dress codes will often be used as an excuse to exclude some nationalities from entering a venue, so booking ahead through the venue directly rather than showing up cold is wise.

Closing Times and Late Nights

Most venues close at 3am or 4am. For the latest nights, Relax @ 12 at Aloft Abu Dhabi Hotel is open Saturday to Tuesday 5pm–2am and Wednesday–Friday 5pm–3am. The worst time is during Ramadan, when there is no nightlife in Abu Dhabi—some clubs stay open but there won't be any music or alcohol. September in Abu Dhabi is punishing—daytime temperatures regularly exceed 40°C, making the concept of outdoor nightlife a fiction. Wait for October.
Drinking Laws and Public Conduct

Pubs like Cooper's make for a more casual night if you're looking for great beer and conversation away from the dress codes and flashing lights, with the informal venue having dark furniture, patterned carpets and barrel tables to give it that British pub vibe and decent prices on nicely chilled beer. Cooper's Bar & Restaurant at The Park Rotana/Park Arjann, Khalifa Park Road Eastern Ring Rd, is open 12 noon–2am Saturday to Wednesday and 12 noon–3am on Thursdays and Fridays. Skip the rooftop bars with AED 90–150 cocktails and find pubs showing football on big screens; match days deliver atmosphere at half the price.
Getting Around at Night

Book transport through Uber or Careem rather than hailing taxis on the street. Abu Dhabi nightlife is spread over a rather large area and you may need more than 30 minutes to reach some clubs, so it's important to choose the right neighborhood. Yas Island sits northeast of the city center—a 20-minute drive—while the Corniche is central and more accessible. Plan your venue choice around district clustering rather than hopping between neighborhoods. Ride-sharing prices surge dramatically after midnight and again toward 2am when venues close. Leave before that window if you want reasonable fares.
