December's charm costs more than May's heat. Choose your trade-off: comfortable nights or breathable budgets.
Abu Dhabi's calendar splits neatly into two weather worlds. November through March offers pleasant temperatures and lower humidity, bringing crowds and prices that climb steadily week by week. July to September is the most budget-friendly time, but temperatures average 36.5°C to 40.3°C with humidity often above 47%—outdoor activity becomes a logistics problem. The shoulder seasons of April-May and September-October sit in the middle: hotel rates drop by 20-40% while evenings offer pleasant weather, and the city operates at half the volume of peak season.
Abu Dhabi's events calendar is fullest November through March, with Formula 1, major concerts, cultural festivals and outdoor events clustering around the cooler months. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix runs December 3-6, 2026, turning that week into the year's hottest booking window. If you're coming for the racing or the winter festivals, book now; if you're running from heat or expense, wait until late April or plan ahead for September.

If you want December's weather without the F1 crowds, aim for the first week: Sheikh Zayed Festival runs through March 22, showcasing heritage through crafts, villages, performances and nightly fireworks.

Temperatures peak at a comfortable 24°C with nights around 17°C. The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open (world-class women's tennis) runs Jan 31–Feb 7 with food experiences and family fan zones. Saadiyat Nights concert series runs across January and February on Saadiyat Island. This is as good as Abu Dhabi gets for outdoor living—clear skies, water warm enough for swimming, every restaurant terrace full. Accept the crowds and prices as the cost of comfort.

Average temperature is 20°C, with this being the rainiest month—though you'll still see plenty of sunshine. February offers the best chance of cloud-free skies with the least amount of rain. The tail end of the Mubadala Open means lower ticket prices but still good social energy. Clear skies and low rainfall make it ideal for outdoor festivals and long walks. Crowds remain high, prices just starting to soften from January peaks.
March

Average temperature rises to 23°C. Highs reach 28°C, lows settle at 18.4°C. The Sheikh Zayed Festival concludes on the 22nd, so book early if you want festivals or aim for late March when the city quiets down and prices begin falling. March has the most rain of the year at 13mm over 3 days, but outdoor activities remain comfortable. A good month to catch the tail of peak season crowds without peak prices.
April

Generally hot and sunny temperatures throughout April make it perfect for sightseeing and beaches; by late April, sea temperatures reach 29°C for swimming. Plan outdoor activities for early morning or sunset; rest indoors mid-day.
May

May is the quietest time to visit and often easier on the budget. Summer months are perfect if you're looking to avail great discounts on hotels, and May captures that window before the oppressive heat. May sits just at that threshold: the last breath of reasonable weather with the first surge of discounts. Book ahead—the paradox is that savings attract travelers who can take the heat.
June through August

August is the hottest month at 36°C average, but highs exceed 40°C regularly. July averages 42°C, feeling like 31°C at night. Outdoor exploration becomes hypothetical. You'll be moving between hotel, mall, and air-conditioned attractions. Ferrari World is an air-conditioned amusement park with most rides indoors—you won't notice the heat outside. Hotel prices are at their lowest. Indoor culture—museums, galleries, the Louvre Abu Dhabi—becomes your itinerary. This is a trip for heat tolerance or indoor activity buffs.
September

September averages 38°C, cooler than August but still requiring strategy. Tourist numbers increase and hotel prices go up, so book bookings early. Ajban Defence Industry & Technology Exhibition runs September 21-22. The shoulder begins turning back toward peak season. Evenings become tolerable for dining out. Rates have risen from their summer floor but haven't yet hit October momentum. A month of transition when the city starts to wake.
October

October sees highs at 35°C with lows dropping to 27°C, with the month's biggest temperature swing occurring between October and November. Late October onward is the sweet spot—weather has eased off, the sea is still warm at 28–31°C, and Corniche evenings are perfect for long walks. Tourist numbers increase and hotel prices rise, so make bookings early. This is the gateway to peak season: comfortable enough for anything, busy enough that restaurants have energy, expensive enough that it's past bargain-hunting season.
