Tickets sell fastest for Sunday's race and the entire three-day pass, with hospitality packages and grandstand seats vanishing weeks ahead. Official tickets drop on the Grand Prix website, and late summer is when the sharp operators move. Start there before chasing resellers.
This guide walks you through the weekend in the order you'll plan it: tickets first, then accommodation (the island is walkable but priced accordingly), then the logistics of getting to Yas Marina and positioning yourself for the best views. We've ordered entries by the sequence you'll actually book them, not by cost or quality.
Yas Island fills with concert crowds each evening—the Etihad Live venue hosts after-race performances with your four-day ticket—and the marina itself becomes a floating bar scene. The racing runs daylight to floodlights, a signature of the circuit. Plan for heat during the day, bring water, and aim to arrive at the gates early enough to explore the fan zones before the sessions start.

There are still a few tickets to be sold in Abu Dhabi, but supply tightens monthly. Official tickets often sell out quickly. Secure your Abu Dhabi F1 tickets and packages early to guarantee your spot. Access is available by individual day or as full-weekend tickets across grandstands and general admission, subject to availability. Three-day passes include access to all after-race concerts at no extra charge. Sunday the 6th—race day—sells out first.
Friday December 4: Practice & Arrival

The Grand Prix kicks off on Friday December 4 with practice 1 and 2. Arrive early to walk the fanzone—Arrive early to explore the fan zone. Expect simulators, live entertainment, and merchandise that turn a Yas Marina Circuit guide into a full-day experience. If you buy a four-day adult ticket for race weekend, you can redeem up to four free children's tickets (for kids aged three to 12), for access to the F1 fanzone and oasis on Friday December 4. This is the least crowded day; it suits families and anyone wanting a leisurely look around the island.
Saturday December 5: Qualifying

The first two free practice sessions will be held on 4 December, with qualifying on Saturday 5 December at 14:00 GMT. Saturday draws the sharpest crowds—grid positions for Sunday are set here, and the energy shifts markedly from Friday. The North Stand gives a brilliant view of strategy unfolding corner by corner, perfect for fans studying racing lines during an F1 race weekend. Position yourself by mid-morning if you want premium seating for the qualifying hour.
Sunday December 6: Race Day

The Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix starts on Sunday 6 December at 13:00 GMT. It is one of Formula 1's signature day-to-night races, starting in daylight and finishing under floodlights. This is the season finale—titles are often decided here. Arrive at the gates by 10 a.m. to secure your spot and navigate the circuit before crowds peak. Sunday is the busiest of the three days; crowds fill every grandstand and the general admission areas.

The best place to stay for race weekend is on Yas Island itself, but supply is limited and prices are high. Away from the island, there's plenty of good hotels in Abu Dhabi. Emirates Palace – Landmark luxury that feels like part of the spectacle. Radisson Blu, Yas Island – Walkable to Yas Marina Circuit with reliable comfort. Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi – Central location with smooth race transport access. Yas Marina Circuit sits on Yas Island, about 30 minutes from central Abu Dhabi and only a short ride from most hotels in the area.

Dubai or Palm area · Three-star to five-star hotels · 55–75 minutes to circuit
Many fans choose Dubai as their base, just about an hour from Yas Marina Circuit. That way, you get the best of both worlds: all the Grand Prix action plus Dubai's iconic skyline views, world-class restaurants and chilled beach days. If you want to save money and don't mind a daily commute of at least 60-90 minutes each way, many fans also stay in Dubai. This suits travellers comfortable with an early-morning drive to the circuit and those building a wider UAE trip around the race.
Getting to the Circuit

The Yas Marina Circuit is located on Yas Island, just 10 minutes from Abu Dhabi Airport (AUH) and around one hour from downtown Dubai. Shuttle buses: Free event shuttles run from major Yas Island stops and selected partner hotels. They will drop you close to key gate entrances and operate regularly throughout the day. Ride services and taxis: Uber, Careem and local taxis are widely available. Set your drop off point to the exact gate printed on your ticket for a quicker arrival. Important: parking tickets for the circuit are mandatory and must be booked in advance.
Best Viewing Positions
Yas Marina Circuit · Multiple grandstands · Choose by action or atmosphere
Opt for a spot in the West Grandstand, a great place to watch all the overtaking action into Turn 6. For grandstand viewing, our favourite is the North Grandstand. It has excellent panoramic views along the back straight, plus exceptional views of turn 3 through to 5 where Verstappen overtook Hamilton on that epic final lap in 2021. Or if you're more there for the atmos, stick yourself in the Main Grandstand overlooking the start-finish straight and enjoy Abu Dhabi's famed pyrotechnics. General admission (Abu Dhabi Hill) offers flexibility to move between sections but no reserved seat.
Concerts & After-Hours

Every year, race weekend brings a stellar line up of artists performing at spectacular after-race concerts. All concerts are set to take place at the newly-named Etihad Live (formerly Etihad Park). Ticket holders who buy a ticket to all four days on the schedule will get access to all after-race concerts. One of the coolest girls in the world, she's set to kick off the weekend pre-races on Thursday night. The marina transforms into a social hub each evening; rooftop bars on Yas Island stay open late with views of the circuit.
