Beach clubs in Dubai: how the day rate actually works

Beach club pricing in Dubai confuses more visitors than anything else in the city, and it comes down to one distinction: is the entry fee a fee, or is it credit?

Most clubs run a minimum spend rather than a ticket. You pay a number at the door — or commit to it when booking — and that number comes off your food and drink bill for the day. Spend it and entry has effectively cost nothing; spend half and you have paid the difference for a sunbed. This is why two clubs advertising very different numbers can work out identically.

A minority charge a genuine entry fee with nothing redeemable, usually the ones with the best pools. And a third group runs a hybrid: partially redeemable, with the split buried in the terms.

Rates move by day and by season. Weekdays are routinely half of weekend rates for the same sunbed, and summer rates across the board are a fraction of winter ones — which is the trade for the temperature. Ladies' days, usually midweek, are the cheapest entry point of all.

Things worth checking before booking: whether the rate covers a sunbed or only entry, whether cabanas carry a separate and much higher minimum, and the club's own dress and age policies, which vary more than you would expect.

And the free option that nobody mentions: Dubai's public beaches are genuinely good, cost nothing, and have showers. What you are paying the club for is the pool, the service and the music — decide whether you want those before deciding where to go.
