Estonia's capital spans 12 months of music, theatre, art and architecture. Start with spring's industry showcase, anchor your summer around festivals, and finish with markets and dark nights.
We've ordered this year chronologically, from the high-profile international events of spring through the summer festivals that draw thousands, the autumn architecture and arts boom, and the winter market that transforms medieval Town Hall Square into Europe's oldest continuous Christmas celebration. Book forward: major events sell out or fill accommodation early, particularly in November and December. Most venues sit within walking distance of each other, clustered around the Old Town, Song Festival Grounds, and harbour district—even a month-long festival rarely requires transport beyond your feet.
Tallinn Music Week

The festival takes place across Tallinn's concert halls and clubs, from Telliskivi Creative City to St John's Church in Freedom Square, offering an overview of what's fresh and vital in new music from Estonia and beyond. Thirty showcase nights will present a cross-genre programme spanning pop and rock in their various guises, jazz, contemporary and choral music, Finno-Ugric heritage and global digipop hybrids. Four days of what feels like a walking music map of the city—book early.
Tallinn Craft Beer Weekend

The festival returns for its milestone 10th edition on May 29-30, 2026. Your ticket grants you access to taste over 370+ diverse beers from world-class breweries. A Friday-Saturday anchor for a Tallinn weekend, set in a renovated industrial waterfront space. The 'buffet style' setup means your ticket grants access to tastings, so you can compare beers side by side and chat with producers without buying individual drinks.

From July 1–4, 2026, the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds will once again become the place where music, friends, and the summer's biggest emotions meet. Over the course of four days, nearly a hundred artists will perform on different stages, the line-up ranging from world-famous superstars to local favourites. Estonia's biggest festival. The festival is known for its sunny mix of big stages, endless street-food stalls and easygoing atmosphere.
Tallinn Fringe Festival

Theatre, comedy, circus, music, burlesque and unexpected performances from 18 August to 18 September 2026. The festival provides open access to all performers, regardless of their background and experiences, creates a platform for non-mainstream arts and performances, and helps audiences see performances outside their usual bubble. A month-long city-wide activation where you pick the venues and shows that catch your eye.
Tallinn Marathon

Every September, the Tallinn Marathon turns the city into a lively celebration of movement. Runners can choose from the full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K youth run and the kids' run. Courses wind past medieval towers, modern districts and coastal views and the weekend program also features family activities and evening concerts by well-known Estonian artists.
Tallinn Architecture Biennale

The Tallinn Architecture Biennale (TAB 2026), taking place from 9 September to 30 November 2026, unfolds across Tallinn's iconic Linnahall and the city's urban landscape under the curatorial theme How Much?. Curated by Stuudio TÄNA and Mark Aleksander Fischer with Mira Samonig, the edition examines architecture through the lens of scarcity, frugality, and hidden social, ecological, and temporal costs. The opening week, taking place from 9–13 September, will bring together exhibitions, workshops, lectures, public events, international discussions, concerts, and much more.
Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival

Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (BNFF), or PÖFF, is an annual film festival held since 1997 in Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia. PÖFF is one of the largest film festivals in Northern Europe. PÖFF includes two sub-festivals that take part concurrently with the main program: Children's and Youth Film Festival Just Film, and PÖFF Shorts. Running concurrently with the festival is Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event Co-Production Market, the biggest audiovisual industry meeting in the region.
Tallinn Christmas Market

The star of the market is the Christmas tree, which is the most important Christmas tree in Estonia and has been set up in Town Hall Square since 1441, making it the first Christmas tree ever to be put on display in Europe. Local merchants will offer Estonian Christmas cuisine, from black pudding and sour cabbage to gingerbread and hot Christmas drinks, as well as various handicrafts. In 2019, the Tallinn Christmas Market was named the Best Christmas Market in Europe.
