Somebody

A quest is a route written by someone who lives here. Three to five stops, with a note at each: what to order, where to sit, when to leave. Follow one on a Saturday and you'll come home knowing a corner of Kolkata better than people who've had ten years to find it.

16:30 · Victoria MemorialWhite Makrana marble, finished in 1921, and the building that stands for the city. The museum inside is good on the Raj; the gardens around it are where Kolkata walks in the evening. Lit after dark.
Stop 2: Howrah Bridge2
17:45 · Howrah BridgeThe cantilever over the Hooghly, 1943, and the busiest bridge in the world by people on foot. Walk it early from Mallick Ghat flower market, which is at its best before 7am. No photography from the bridge itself is the rule.
Stop 3: Somewhere near the river3
The last stop is for members.
