20 Best Restaurants in Colombo for Every Budget
From a Dutch Hospital crab house that prices dinner in dollars to a Kollupitiya kottu stall open past midnight, here's what to book and what to just walk into.
The queue for a mud crab table at Ministry of Crab starts forming before the Dutch Hospital's other shopfronts have even switched their lights on, and by 7pm the courtyard is loud with cutlery on shell. A few streets away, the pavement outside Hotel De Pilawoos never really empties, kottu blades going all night for four dollars and no reservation required. Colombo's dining scene runs on that spread, colonial-era dining rooms with wine lists at one end, a chopping board and a gas flame at the other, and the trick is knowing which one deserves your Saturday night and which one is just there when you're hungry at midnight.
