The Damrak is the most famous spot in Amsterdam for taking pictures. The famous Damrak gingerbread houses, or dancing houses as they are known, make for a fantastic image and if you can get there when the water is calm, the reflections are spectacular. You can come here anytime to take photographs, but it looked a lot better during the blue hour/night. Position yourself on the canal side at water level to get the tilted facades reflected in still water; if you walk all the way around the dock, you can find many different angles and interesting shots.
Magere Brug

The famous Skinny Bridge, or Magere Brug, represents Amsterdam's most iconic sunset photography location, positioning visitors perfectly to capture the Amstel River's golden reflections. Leidsegracht and Keizersgracht Intersection

The bridges where Leidsegracht and Keizersgracht meet make for a great spot to capture light trails of boats going past. The bridges also have a ring of lights around them which looks great at night. The canal-and-bridge shots especially benefit from blue hour because the streetlamps and house lights reflect dramatically on the water. Bring a tripod for long exposures to catch passing boat lights in the water.
Armbrug

The view from Armbrug includes the Co-cathedral Basilica of Saint Nicholas (formerly known as the St. Nicholas Church – St. Nicolaaskerk). Just remember to be respectful and refrain from taking photos of the area's workers. The best vantage is standing atop the bridge looking north toward the church and Kolksluis lock.
Bet van Beerenbrug

Stand at water level if possible to include canal reflections in your frame.
Prinsengracht Canal

There's a small bridge on Prince's Canal, just south of Westerkerk, where if you position yourself correctly on the eastern side, you get this incredible layered composition—the church spire, the canal houses, the water, and usually a few flower bikes arranged naturally along the railing. The flower bikes here photograph best when you include some context—a doorway, a section of cobblestone, a glimpse of canal in the background.

Shoot looking west over the canal belt and toward the far edge of the city. Access by free ferry from behind Central Station.
A'DAM Lookout Tower
