New in Tallinn: Sodita, a matcha bar and a roastery in Telliskivi

Mexican cooking at Telliskivi 51a, plus MELT, Haruu and The Brick's new café — this year's arrivals.
Telliskivi keeps absorbing Tallinn's new openings, and this year's crop makes the case that it has stopped being an alternative district and started being the centre of the city's eating.
Sodita is the notable one — Mexican cooking at Telliskivi 51a, in the part of the complex that has spent years building a reputation for creative offices, bars and a more casual evening than the Old Town offers. It is the most significant Tallinn opening of early 2026 and the first serious Mexican room the city has had.
Around it: MELT, Haruu Matcha Café, and a new café from The Brick Coffee Roastery, whose beans have been in half the good cafés in the city for years and who now have a room of their own.
The pattern is worth naming. Tallinn's openings have moved decisively out of the Old Town, where rents follow tourist footfall, and into Telliskivi, Kalamaja and Noblessner, where the crowd is local and the concepts are narrower. A single-focus room — one cuisine, one drink, done properly — is now the norm rather than the exception.
A practical note on the district: most Telliskivi venues open around noon and run to midnight on weekdays, 2am at weekends, which is late by Tallinn standards. And you can spend an entire evening moving between bars there without walking more than two minutes or calling a taxi once — which is the actual reason it has won.
